The Blackpool Dance Festival has been running in Blackpool for over ninety years and is generally accepted as one of the World’s premier dance competitions– something that we in Blackpool are very proud of.

The second Festival was held at the impressive Baoshan Arena with support provided by the Baoshan Area Government.

Once again, Mr HaiPing Ge and his team from International Special Attractions worked with the Blackpool team on the initial planning and delivery of the event.Ali Sports provided additional support and facilitated the Opening Night Ceremony and live streaming.

Mr Marcus Hilton MBE was our Chair of Adjudicators and Mr Robert Bellinger,our daytime Chair of Adjudicators. Both did a marvellous job – as always. Our panels of International Adjudicators worked tirelessly judging all the Competitions and this must be enormous pressure.

Ashley Frohlick and the Empress Orchestra have once again provided some amazing music and I am sure all the dancers have enjoyed this unique experience.

We welcomed dancers and spectators from twenty-five countries from around the world who joined us in Shanghai and entries totalled over 4,700 which is a pleasing result for the second year of the Festival. Plans are now underway for the third Blackpool China Festival in 2018
